Peptides for Muscle Growth: The Growth-Hormone Pathway
Where weight-loss peptides act on appetite and incretin hormones, muscle-focused
peptides work upstream — on the signals that govern how much growth hormone (GH) your body releases.
The key idea is subtle but important: most of these compounds don’t replace GH. They prompt your own
pituitary to release more of it, in its natural rhythm.
The growth-hormone axis in one minute
Growth hormone drives protein synthesis, fat metabolism, tissue repair, and recovery. Its
release is controlled by two opposing signals: GHRH (growth-hormone-releasing hormone),
which tells the pituitary to release GH, and somatostatin, which tells it to stop. There’s also a third
amplifier — ghrelin, which boosts GH release through a separate receptor.
The peptides researchers study for muscle and recovery map neatly onto these signals. They fall

Because the two families act on different receptors, they’re frequently researched as a pair —
a GHRH analogue to raise the baseline and a secretagogue to amplify the pulse. The most common pairing
in the literature is CJC-1295 + ipamorelin.
CJC-1295 — the baseline raiser
CJC-1295 is a GHRH analogue that sustainably elevates plasma GH and IGF-1 levels. Crucially, it
works with the body’s own pulsatile release rather than flooding the system with external
hormone. Research interest centres on protein synthesis, lipolysis (fat loss), and bone density.
Ipamorelin — the clean amplifier
Ipamorelin is a selective GH secretagogue prized in research for being “clean” — it stimulates
GH release with minimal effect on cortisol or prolactin, unlike older GHRPs. Paired with a GHRH
analogue, it’s studied for a stronger, more natural GH pulse.
A GHRH analogue and a secretagogue act on two separate doorways to the
same room. Engaging both is studied for a larger, more physiological GH pulse than either alone —
which is why CJC-1295 + ipamorelin is the canonical recovery stack.

favourable shifts in body composition over weeks, not days.
One of the most common beginner mistakes is expecting dramatic results
immediately, then over-correcting. Peptides reward consistency, adequate protein, sleep, and
