Selank (TP-7) — synthetic tuftsin-analog research peptide
Selank is a heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (Russian Academy of Sciences), derived from the naturally occurring immune tetrapeptide tuftsin. It is one of the most-studied compounds in the neuropeptide research literature.
Research areas (in-vitro and preclinical models):
- Stress-response pathways — studied in laboratory models of anxiety-related behaviour and stress adaptation.
- GABAergic and serotonergic signalling — investigated for modulation of inhibitory neurotransmission.
- BDNF expression — examined in studies of neurotrophic factor regulation.
- Immune signalling — researched for tuftsin-like immunomodulatory activity.

Selank vs Semax
Selank and Semax come from the same research institute but different parent peptides: Selank is a tuftsin analog studied in stress-response and immune-signalling models, while Semax is an ACTH(4–10) analog studied in neurotrophic-signalling models.
