Description
Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA-1) — thymic immune-signalling research peptide
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid fragment of prothymosin alpha, first isolated from thymosin fraction 5 — a thymus-gland extract — in the 1970s. It is studied in laboratory models for immune-signalling pathways: T-cell maturation, dendritic-cell activation and natural-killer-cell activity. A pharmaceutical form (thymalfasin, brand name Zadaxin) is approved in dozens of countries, though never in Canada or the US — which gives TA-1 one of the deeper human clinical literatures among research peptides, belonging to that drug product, not to research material. For the full research background, see our Thymosin Alpha-1 Canada research guide.
Research areas (in-vitro and preclinical models, plus the authorized drug’s literature abroad):
- Immune-signalling research — Toll-like-receptor pathway studies, T-cell differentiation and NK-cell readouts in laboratory models
- Immunosenescence — how immune signalling changes with age in preclinical models
- Infection and adjuvant literature — the hepatitis B/C and sepsis trial record of the authorized drug abroad; that evidence applies to the drug product under its conditions of use, and no equivalence is implied
- Alpha vs beta thymosins — TA-1 is not TB-500: TB-500 is synthetic thymosin beta-4, a different peptide family studied for tissue repair. See the TB-500 product page
Supplied as a 10mg lyophilized vial, batch-coded, under Quantum’s per-batch third-party testing program (HPLC purity — target 99%+ — and mass-spectrometry identity from an independent Canadian lab). Batch certificates post to the lab results hub as each batch completes testing — check there for the current TA-1 batch certificate.
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption. Not evaluated for approval by Health Canada.

Frequently asked questions
What is Thymosin Alpha-1?
A 28-amino-acid thymic peptide studied in immune-signalling research — T-cell maturation, dendritic-cell activation and NK-cell activity in laboratory models. Supplied here as a 10mg lyophilized research vial.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same as Zadaxin?
Zadaxin is a prescription drug (thymalfasin) approved in dozens of countries — never in Canada or the US. A research vial is not that product and is not represented as interchangeable with it.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 legal in Canada?
TA-1 may be sold in Canada as a research chemical for laboratory use only. As of September 2026, Health Canada’s Drug Product Database lists no product containing thymosin alpha-1 or thymalfasin — it has never been an authorised drug in Canada.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same as TB-500?
No — different families. TA-1 is an alpha-thymosin studied in immune-signalling research; TB-500 is synthetic thymosin beta-4, studied in tissue-repair research. They are not interchangeable in research designs.
What is the Thymosin Alpha-1 dosage?
We don’t provide protocols: this material is sold for laboratory research only, and published exposure data is specific to the authorized drug product sold abroad, not research vials.
Does this Thymosin Alpha-1 come with a COA?
Every Quantum batch goes through independent third-party HPLC and mass-spectrometry testing; the batch-specific certificate is published on the lab results hub as each batch completes testing. Check the current TA-1 batch certificate there before purchase.
